The First Lady reading to students
Ohio Governor's Imagination Library

Early language development is critical to a child’s success.

It is widely recognized that the best way to promote language development is by reading aloud to children, yet not all families have easy access to new and exciting books for their children.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is changing that across the nation by sending new books to children from birth, regardless of their family's circumstance. In fact, after the city of Cincinnati began their partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, Kindergarten Readiness assessments rose by 15.4% among participating children in just three years from 42.9% to 58.3%.

Currently, there are over 700,000 children under the age of five in the state of Ohio, but less than 100,000 of those children are currently enrolled in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

The Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library gives us the opportunity to change that. By partnering with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and working with new and existing affiliates across the state, we can bring new books to children across Ohio.
