First Lady DeWine Promotes the Imagination Library in Trumbull, Columbiana and Carroll Counties

Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine visited three counties in northeast Ohio to promote the Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library. At each visit, she read The Very Hungry Caterpillar to a group of preschoolers, and thanked the Imagination Library affiliates for supporting and expanding the program.

Affiliates are responsible for 50% of the cost of Imagination Library books in their assigned county. Currently, the Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library has 69 affiliates, who each work to increase awareness for the program, and overall enrollment of kids within the assigned county.

In Trumbull County, Mrs. DeWine visited a preschool class at Head Start’s Warren West location. The affiliate for Trumbull County is United Way of Trumbull County.

In Columbiana County, Mrs. DeWine visited the Little Friends Preschool and met with The Brightside Project, Columbiana County’s Imagination Library affiliate.

In Carroll County, Mrs. DeWine visited the Carroll County Public Library and read to a visiting preschool class. She met with the county’s Imagination Library affiliate—United Way of Stark County.

The Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library is a program that mails kids one book each month until their 5th birthday. All kids in Ohio are eligible and this program is available at no cost to families.

Caregivers can enroll any child under the age of 5 at OhioImaginationLibrary.org.

As of October 2021, 41% of eligible kids statewide are enrolled in the Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library. More than 292,608 kids were mailed an age-appropriate book at no cost to their family!
